Steve Franklin |
Director
He may hail from the Waikato and insist on supporting their rugby team, but since 2002 Steve Franklin has made Whakatāne his home and the Eastern Bay of Plenty community his life. A proven problem solver and trouble-shooter, Steve is in his element unravelling complex challenges and coming up with satisfying solutions. That’s why he leads our general litigation and dispute resolution team.
His schooling was completed in Hamilton, with LLB and BSocSci degrees following from Waikato University. A member of the Criminal Bar Association of New Zealand, Steve currently serves as a Board Member for the Baywide Community Law Trust and he is a Commercial Advisory Board Member on the Whakatane District Council.
As a ‘results-focused’ lawyer who takes a direct and efficient approach, Steve consistently achieves the best possible outcomes for his clients. Regarded as a confident and reliable negotiator and a quality sounding board, he’s a good man to have in your corner.
As an experienced property and commercial lawyer, Steve regularly advises clients in relation to both transactions and disputes in these areas of law.
Active and prominent within the Whakatāne community, Steve has held many board and governance roles for not for profit and community organisations in addition to his current commitments.
Outside the office, Steve is a family man and proud father to two young boys with his wife, Nickie. A keen fisherman, he’s a passionate convener of the highly successful annual Hamertons Whakatāne Charity Fishing Tournament which has raised funds for many worthy community organisations over a number of years. He’s been known to tell the odd tall fishing tale from time to time. His interests extend to the ocean, travel and knowing things: Steve is widely regarded as a quality pub quiz teammate.
