Nicole Gordon |
Associate
Originally from Auckland, Nicole Gordon is a valued member of our Family Team.
She was driven to specialise in this area of law through her passion for helping clients cope with emotionally challenging situations. Nicole especially enjoys guiding clients through all of their legal options, helping identify optimal solutions.
Having grown up with those affected by disabilities, Nicole is especially interested in helping vulnerable people. She is able to relate and build a rapport with those struggling and their whanau, and regularly appears in cases involving the Mental Health Act at the Whakatāne Hospital.
Well-known and well-regarded for her oratory skills and ability to draft affidavits, Nicole is a reliable and capable pair of hands when it comes to Parenting, Relationship Property, Protection of Personal and Property Rights (PPPR) and Oranga Tamariki proceedings. Her confidence in the courtroom and ability to juggle complex matters comes from her background working for the Ministry of Justice, where she was employed in a variety of Tribunals.
Nicole also assists with estate administration and enjoys guiding executors through this process by giving practical, real-world advice.
Nicole’s proudest moment was the privilege of representing the first patient heard under the new Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 2017, a case now anonymised in legal databases.
Family is incredibly important to her, so much so she managed to convince a number of family to move to Whākatane.
Outside the office, Nicole can be found trawling vintage dress shops, baking for her family, dreaming of travel and walking our impressive beaches with her Mum’s SPCA Kawerau Special.
