Prior to joining the Hamertons team, Saraya Ngatai practiced in a well-regarded Rotorua firm in the areas of Property, Conveyancing, Commercial Refinances, Trusts and Māori land law.
Another Hamertons legal professional with ties to Hamilton, Saraya obtained conjoint degrees in Law and Social Sciences (Psychology) from the University of Waikato. She graduated in 2012 and spent the next two years immersed in Māori Land Law at the Waikato Maniapoto Māori land court, an area of law about which she is particularly passionate.
As a general practice property and commercial solicitor with a specific interest in Māori land development, Saraya regularly assists Jude Wilson and Steve Franklin with property and commercial matters. Saraya’s clients love her warm, friendly and laid-back nature.
Saraya is of Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāi Tahu descent. She’s thrilled to have resettled in her hometown of Kawerau with her partner, her daughter and their three dogs.
In her spare time, Saraya enjoys the Eastern Bay’s great outdoors, walking the dogs, getting out fishing or curling up somewhere reading a good book.
