Kyla's electric personality, weaved with her compassion, aroha and community spirit serves her well in her work with Brian Carter and Michael O'Hagan at Hamertons Lawyers. Her primary areas of practice include Rural, Residential Conveyancing, Estate Planning and Asset Protection as well as Commercial Law, Wills and Trust Administration.
As Hamerton’s biggest lover of fauna and flora, Kyla Johansen has a keen interest in animal law and conservation and has served as a committee member of the Animal Legal Defence Fund whilst at Waikato University, given her time as a volunteer for the RSPCA and is a current trustee of both the Harmony & Hope Animal Rescue Trust and the Whakatane Kiwi Trust.
Kyla hopes to devote a part of her future career to improving education, legislative policy and judicial practice in relation to the treatment and welfare of animals in New Zealand and ensuring that and our unique native ecosystem is sustained for the enjoyment of future generations of New Zealander’s.
Like many of her Hamerton’s colleagues, Kyla loves involving herself in the local community. She is an active member of Rotary Whakatane West and acts as a trustee, advisor and general dogsbody to a number of charitable trusts and community ventures in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Away from the office, Kyla’s best moments are relaxing with her brood of four lovely children and her large extended family enjoying everything that living in the Eastern Bay of Plenty has to offer.
