As a graduate, the firm culture at Hamertons allowed me to learn and develop as a Lawyer and advance my practical application of the Law. The Directors of Hamertons have an open-door policy and provide team approach to mentoring and guidance that ensured I receive help when needed. Working at Hamertons has allowed me to not only develop the legal career I desired, but also ensured that have time for my family.
Hamertons culture is family friendly, and I have been supported in balancing family responsibilities such as popping out of the office for my children’s assemblies or sports games. When I interviewed for the Graduate Solicitor position at Hamertons, I had not spent any significate time in Whakatane, however I quickly grew to love this town. After work, trips to the beach for a surf or bike rides along the river are some of the benefits I enjoy by living in Whakatane and working at Hamertons.

I started working at Hamertons in August 2014 and have now been a part of the Hamertons’ family for over seven years. Under the guidance and mentoring provided by Angela Kershaw, I became independent in the art of practical advocacy and other aspects of litigation within a short period of time. I was also provided with the opportunity to pursue my passion for employment law working alongside Steve Franklin. Due to Hamertons being a medium-sized law firm, our lawyers possess a diverse range of skills, and it is good to be able to reassure our clients that we have the resources to seek expert advice on any matter that may be outside our individual area of expertise. The support between colleagues is another reason I like working for Hamertons as there is always someone willing to assist when needed. I regard Hamertons as my work family and I would recommend Hamertons to any lawyer who seeks to be part of a supportive firm where they will be encouraged and receive the appropriate training to achieve and grow. - Heather Tucker – Senior Lawyer
