Georgina Murley
Georgina has a double degree in Law and Commerce (majoring in Economics) from Otago University. She was admitted to the Bar in 2002 and spent the majority of her first few years as a lawyer working as a commercial property lawyer at Chapman Tripp in Auckland before moving to London and working for large city law firm Herbert Smith LLP as a senior associate in the real estate division.
On her way home from London Georgina spent time in Tanzania doing volunteer work and taught English to secondary school students. She then spent a year at Mighty River Power in Auckland working as in house legal counsel where she advised and worked on wind farm, hydro power and geothermal energy projects. Following the completion of her contract in March 2010 with Mighty River Power she headed south to Whakatane to be with her partner and started work at Hamertons a few months later when winter started to set in.
Georgina has experience in a wide range of property and commercial law matters and enjoys acting for a variety of clients with varying needs - from first home buyers to business owners wanting to sell their business.
Georgina enjoys the work life balance that living at the beach in Ohope and working in Whakatane and Hamertons has to offer. After work she enjoys playing sport and depending on the season she will most likely be found on either the netball or the tennis court or occasionally the squash court. Georgina is a member of the Whakatane Zest young professionals committee that she helped establish last year to encourage social and business networking amongst young people in Whakatane.
