About Hamertons Lawyers Limited

Hamertons Lawyers’ roots go right back to 1923 when Tom Hamerton commenced legal practice in Taneatua.  In the 1920’s Taneatua was a thriving town with a population larger than that of Whakatane.  The arrival of the railway line from Auckland in 1928 increased the business activity in Taneatua and Tom Hamerton remained in practice there until 1949.  As the demographics of the Eastern Bay of Plenty changed Hamertons expanded into Whakatane and Kawerau where we still maintain our busy branch office in Jellicoe Court today.

Hamertons Lawyers is a general law practice based in Whakatane and is the largest law firm in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.  Our team of experienced solicitors and qualified legal executives, with support from a number of experienced Law Clerks and Legal Secretaries, service a wide range of legal work for a significant and well established client base.

We are a full service law firm offering legal solutions in a wide range of areas including property and commercial law, family law, asset protection and dispute resolution and litigation.

Hamertons is a keen supporter of the local community providing services as honorary Solicitors to various local Trusts and sponsoring the annual Hamertons Whakatane Charity Fishing Tournament and various other charitable events throughout the year.
